DPFL Mentees LHS 8.15

DPFL Mentors and Mentees
Longmont Humane Society, CO
August 2015

DPFL Seminars: We offer Dogs Playing for Life™  enrichment program training seminars at your organization.  Our seminars include a Power Point presentation, packed with video examples, followed by hands-on work with your shelter dogs, staff and volunteers. Your population of dogs will dictate the number of days we will spend on the ground with your team (typically 2 days per 50 dogs).

DPFL Mentorships: We offer DPFL Mentorships to shelter personnel and volunteers exclusively and in the context of working with sheltered animals. We are here to help you advance your skills as handlers and trainers, with a better understanding of canine behavior within the context of sheltering, so that you can enhance the quality of life for your animals as well as save more lives!

Locations for mentorships will vary. Please see our Dogs Playing for Life calendar for mentorship location information. Once confirmed for a mentorship, you will receive hotel information for the location you are attending.

We provide four-day Mentorships focusing on the implementation of daily play groups, teaching sheltered dogs basic manners with structured kennel routines and our approach to achieving excellent leash walking skills. If you feel our programs can help you, please contact us to discuss dates and a curriculum that will suit you best!
With over 27 years of experience working with multiple species in varying venues, Founder of DPFL, Aimee Sadler, has developed training and behavior programs that maximize resources to meet the needs of more sheltered animals resulting in solid life-saving statistics.  The Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation, Longmont Humane Society and Austin Pets Alive! maintain Live Release Rates for their canine populations exceeding 95% with the implementation of DPFL programming. Aimee has been recognized for her work in animal welfare and is one of the proud recipients of the Henry Bergh Leadership Award for 2011. Aimee now travels internationally and has introduced play groups to over 80 shelters, resulting in happier and healthier animals (and staff and volunteers!) and reduced euthanasia.
Mentorships: $1000 pp plus expenses (for multiple attendees from one organization, please contact us regarding discounted rates).

Seminars: The number of dogs at your shelter who will be participating in play groups will determine the number of days needed for your shelter’s seminar (with a minimum of 2 days).

Here’s what some people are saying about their experience working with Aimee and her behavior teams:

Hope to see you again at HCAS!!!!! Our dogs(and our volunteers/staff) have reallllyyy been loving the group play sessions.Thank you for showing us the way :)”…Victoria Parker, volunteer

“My short feedback is that I greatly enjoyed her presentation and found it well done and displaying a real understanding of the unique challenges, of working with animals in the shelter environment. The playgroups and the necessary knowledge and skills needed to run them, were excellently explained and demonstrated to attendees. I personally feel that my training tool box has been expanded and I feel confident that I now have the skills to assist in the running of playgroups. I am personally grateful to Aimee, for opening this door for us and most importantly for the dogs that will benefit enormously from this enriching activity. Thank you to everyone who made this possible.” Lauren Ranghelli KPA CTP

“Thanks for the handouts and for putting on this seminar with Aimee and Mike. I found it very helpful – thorough, well presented, and containing new ideas that I’ll be able to use. Dani Weinberg, Ph.D. – Dogs & Their People, Albuquerque, NM – Certified Dog Behavior Consultant – Karen Pryor Academy Faculty – Author of “Teaching People Teaching Dogs”

“Aimee has developed one of the best behavior programs I’ve seen in shelters…and I’ve seen a lot of shelters! She takes behavioral knowledge and creates new applications…” Dr. Pamela Reid, PhD VP of Behavior, ASPCA
