CUMBERLAND — All 80 dogs at the Allegany County Animal Shelter are receiving special training from Dogs Playing for Life, a nonprofit organization based in Colorado.

The program is aimed at demonstrating both the practical efficiencies of play groups for the rescue organization, as well as the emotional and behavioral benefits for the animals. The program is rooted in a dog’s natural instinct to play and demonstration of safe-handling techniques.
